to be honest it doesn't sound too bad at all- theres defo something there, BUT, I've had bikes over the years that have sounded a lot lot worse. Having said that those bikes have always performed very well without any nip up problems.

Could be a touch of "Lambretta Hypocondria" setting in

Ride it and enjoy it (at least you've got the weather over there!!)

If its only just been rebored, then you obviously need to run it in. I'm sure you will find the noise decreases/ disappears as the miles clock up and the rings bed in properly.

bristolmod I think your are right regarding a touch of "Lambretta Hypocondria" setting in :biggrin:
It's just my first rebuild and I just wanted to make sure I am not skipping any steps or ignoring what the scoot is trying to tell me (that something might be wrong).Believe me I'd rather be riding the Lammy. Oh, I miss riding. Anyway I will check everything again and If there is no fault to be found and the noise is still there I'm just going to ride it

There is a certain amount of "engine noise" when ticking over like that from normal things like the chain, inlet port closing, etc etc the list goes on, but from the video its very hard to make out if what can be heard is just engine noise or something else that needs investigating.

I have a similar sound but when the engine is hot.
I quit the cylinder too see how the piston is and then i put a new 22 delly carb and a JL3 Curly and i think that is a squish that now is smaller than first.
Is possible that with the piston hot touch in cylinder head and do this sound?

Another thing to check for:-

Magnets in the flywheel catching the stator, sometimes the magnets work loose and catch the outer edge of the stator, you allready have your runners and flywheel cover removed so only need to take the flywheel off and check for any wear or scoring, also check the black box (pick-up) has not been catching. Had both these happen on 2 of me scoots.

I listened to it again, it definitely sounds like piston slap. I would pop-off the cylinder and piston and bring it to the shop and have them double-check the tolerance. perhaps the bore is slightly oval.

You can also use a thicker head gasket to see if your piston is just barely touching your head.

Also, did you replace the inner flyside bearing race on the crankshaft when you replaced the outer in the mag-flange. Sometimes people only replace the outer (which is not good).
