Didn't NATO bring in a "one fuel policy" and standardise on Diesel sometime in the early eighties? Hence the disposal of all those Alvis Stalwarts and the conversion of the Scimitars to diesel. It would save lots of money only having one fuel and the thick squaddies (their words) wouldn't put the wrong fuel in tanks, trucks and bikes
any thoughts on a diesel engined scooter, you could fit a generator engine
It would make battle field logistics a lot simpler.

PS The new Royal Navy aircraft carries are electrically powered by Rolls Royce Trent jet engines. Means they can use the same fuel as the planes.
