for the sake of a few quid it's a good idea to get LED festoon, speedo and rear light bulbs which run well on dc, the scooter center LED rear light unit is supposed to be good also

ive converted the rear light to led festoon (series ones use festoon bulbs) ive found some super bright ones too. a total of 25leds draws 1.8 milli amps, nothing at all.

so with the extra wattage freed up im after putting in a higher wattage front bulb plus run my digital speedo wich needs dc.

ive got an osciliscope so ill see how it looks and maybe use a small battery for the speedo/sat nav to act as a smoothing circuit.
