Upper front fork damper brackets

I have found that instead of using the typical shouldered link stud, which pushed the lower end of the damper away from the fork link you can just use a stud thats 7mm one end and 6mm the other.
Screw the 7mm into the fork link as far as you can with the double nut method. Then slide on a "penny" washer then your damper......its looks alot neater and lines up with your top brackets more oftern than not.
Terry White at Rapid Industrial Fasteners can supply these studs.

my idea was a long inlet stud and turn one end down and thread it but this might be better the only thing the shank is 7mm and the damper eye is 13-15 mm depending on type

Yes, that will make a helluva difference. The damper studs on my other scoot don't have the extra shoulder.

Caw, ain't stainless steel hard Just spent an hour filing off the rounded shoulder on the damper studs. But they do line up nicely now

The shoulder must have been 3/8 at least Steve. I've filed it down to the same 6mm as the rest of the shank but left the nut shaped bit. Made all the difference. Feckin hard work. Tried whizzing round to my local machinist, but they had already gone home and wanted to get this done asap.
