A couple of pics I've posted before of the Kegra 'hybrid' you mentioned. Very expensive ................ A bit of fettling required to get in to fit and a series two or GAZ type rear shock to give enough extra room for the running boards to be left intact with no cutting. ..............Performance is good rather than stunning
So to summarise:
£400 cut and shut pipe
Needs fecking about with to fit and a non standard rear shock to avoid cutting bodywork.
Performs OK but not great - maybe 1-2hp improvement over standard
A load of Rubbish IMO for that kind of money - should have gone to see RS

Weren't double cone clubmans the way to go before expansions were around? I seem to remember all clubmans were double cones with a VW pipe. There must be some of them still floating around.
And yes Stokie, that's a boatload of money for a pipe that won't perform as well as a true expansion.

before spanny type pipes were available all you had was adapted pipes pics show race pipe and same pipe with different angle on tail pipe used on road scoot .
My pipe was a std lamby box rolled cone coming in on the front at a better angle further forward than 90 degrees and rolled cone at the back with a 48 mm front U bend turned further forward on the flange to match up with the front cone to give a smoother flow entry to exhaust gases. Used to cut the side down so there was only 1" left of the side of the exhaust and weld a complete new bottom on then attach rear cone Gave a lot more clearance for cornering never really got more top end with a spanny when we eventualy got one on race scoot just seemed to loose torque , I used a long VW muffler mounted in a tube so it could be pushed in or out of the box so you could change the back pressure to suit circuit or when riding 2 up on road . PICS ARE FROM EARLY 80`S

great post frank
by far the easyest way to get power is with an expansion but there is something about a clubman that grabs me despite having a shed full of expansions i keep going back to the clubman.

some where in my files of old notes,i,ve got all the details and measurements of an old reverse cone /big bore clubman type silencer..with VW tail pipe .i,m positive it was taken from a "wildcat 225" if that helps....
i remember that it used a 48mm U pipe (cos thats huge)
and if i get time i may even remake one just for interest and test it out on our dyno....
can VW tail pipes still be obtained and if so how much are they....?

yeah, readily available, for a few quid, stainless even.
I've got a 48mm clubman I was going to do something like that too, just for fun, and because I had some homemade affair like that years ago.

I've got an RS clubman that I bought from Lozmondo a year or two ago. The tail pipe wasn't in very good condition and there were one or two minor rattles inside. So after cutting it open and sorting out the baffles, the original tail pipe has been cut off and a VW cone extension added. I'll post some pictures later. The remade exhaust will be fitted to a standard-ish GP200 later this week...
