Yes, it is an electric starter. The flywheel was an original AF lightweight item, with the starter wheel from a Piaggio Sfera machined into the face. Nice.

This rates at about 11.7 on the oh-sh!t-o-meter.

That was kind of where the problem started. The starter motor has a thrown pinion, and it will only work in one direction. Reversing the polarity would make the electric motor turn in the opposite direction, but the pinion would still be geared incorrectly.Stokie wrote:If you connected the wires the other way around would it have worked ?
The scooter was sold as an incomplete project, but the engine ran and had heaps of torque. The spec was pretty good. Wiseco piston, Rotax rod, steel liner, four transfers and two boost ports, two part head, CR500 reed valve, Delly 34mm etc etc.Stokie wrote:How well did the crankcase induction motor perform ?
