As i said there are loads on ebay and a lot don,t sell . Privatley he might get more but the reality is there are to many for the demand needed . Also people are becoming a lot wiser now that its not quite an Italian Lambretta un-like a couple of years ago when they were coming over by the boat load and people were been duped by glossy adds in scootering magazine . Not trying to be harsh here just realistic ,at the end of the day an Italian Lambretta is a piece of cult history an Indian Lambretta is er available now.
so your saying theres no italian lambrettas for sale anywere :?: iirc sil stopped making scooters in 1997 so how can they be available now (only inso much as there on ebay but so are italian/and spanish) both indian and italian scooters are available and are available as new/ restored all be it with differant prices and differant quality of parts
the scooter for sale could be worth anywere between 1200 and 2400 it really depends on who,s buying it and how much they know about scooters and clw, if like you say it was built by clw then if i was buying it it would have a big bearing on the price knowing a scooter is built from good quality parts adds value ,theres plenty of s**t heap italian scooters out there built with suspect parts that dealers and individuals are selling apart from the extra cost of the italian scooter(maybe £500 on a gp 150) there only worth or as good as the last rebuild i bought mine cheap from motoitalia scooters last year as it was ther last one but i knew i would have to spend some money on things im not knockin moto as i recone i got a bargain its just i wanted better quality parts in some areas ,perhaps your friend should get a build spec or list of parts that were replaced/used if they were sil or asian parts id say nearer the bottom end but if stuff like bgm mazz skf /ina/ducati/casa or asso were used id say near the top of my price again is it a 200 or a 150 frame or an early one (maybe old innnocenti stock) or older these things will have a bearing on price look on ebay theres one on there and its near 2k now

Never said that there are no Italian Lambretta,s for sale? there are plenty. Okay from a shop point of veiw there are quite a few offering bikes because they have lost there jobs which i think it is a sad thing.Indian Lambretta,s are harder to sell because they are more easily available plus they are not tax exempt. He may get more for the bike privatley which i did point out but at the moment prices are droping because of what is happening. Sorry if i offended anyone but this is what i see from day to day and other shops say the same .

It may be advertised for 2k but thats just a starting place. Asking price and what it actually achieves are two different things!

to be fair i recently bought an Indian GP cut-down for the very reason it was Indian as i didn't want a lynching for chopping up a good resto project...........
to me by the time i have done the last few bits needed i will have a good quality scoot (with very little Indian left!!) for a very good cost

if this ref my post then the scoot has reached near 2k by people bidding its not a start price like i said (knowing a scooter is built from good quality parts adds value ,...if they were sil or asian parts id say nearer the bottom end but if stuff like bgm mazz skf /ina/ducati/casa or asso were used id say near the top of my price again is it a 200 or a 150 frame or an early one (maybe old innnocenti stock) or older these things will have a bearing on price )
the quality of resto and parts used has a big effect on value

i think that you are forgetting something here, this is the guy (going back 30 years) took the p155 out of spanish lambretta's,they were crap ,rough finish,60's syles panals and horn casting and front mudguard, just a step back from a proper italian scooter, the indian gp has kept the lambretta alive ,yes there are some worse points about these that the jet and 150 specials, but they look like the real gp,and i cant take the p155 out them,i have three an ocre yellow,a kawasaki green, and a metalic blue,i'm not saying there quick or reliable but on the whole a very good look alike,i have a genuine sx200 and a jet which i will sell because i dont like them as much as the gp,the gp was a real racing scooter well ahead of time with small ideas like big crank taper, electronic ign, large front sprocket for helping the clutch out, bigger carb, better lights,(yes i'm still in love with the gp),
a good base to buy is a restored indian gp if you want to quicker there are plenty of bolt on bits ,£2000 is reasonable ,you will pay more than that for a jet,and you will still have a jet not an sx200!
the prices of scooters whether italian, spanish or indian have not dropped despite the economic climate, remember their not making any more new ones!
regards
joe
ps i will sell the indian gp 200's when registered

Just out of interest (on a differnt tact) when speaking to people face-to-face, do you actually draw a huge breath before speaking, and then just say it all like that in one go .......or you do you actually punctuate whilst speaking? (Asking in a light hearted manner :D )

I only ask as i try to read your posts and then drift off after about 2 lines, as i have to keep re-reading through and through in order to try and gauge your stance/attitude/humor/seriousness/opinions/emotions etc.

No offense intended, and apologies if you have any reading/writing/keyboard difficulties......but i just struggle with your posts.

Any chance of spaces, paragraphs, punctuation, and an abundance of smilies etc to help soften the blow?

:D ;)

i for one would not like to comment at all on what something is worth ,now adays..........
and i think its perhaps just futile to try and do so ...........
as a seller.......the best you can do is.. advertise it as best you can...........and then see what the best price is ,offered to you.............this surely is what it IS MOST worth..........
then either sell it or keep it....................its up to you.........
if you think the best offer was not enough...........then dont sell it.........simple.
but bear in mind ,there are many people in the houseing market that have refused offers just lately....and now regret not selling it at that................because they they are now stuck with it ,in that, it is now considered worth even less........
in other words.......(as has been said before).........its only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay..................whether its a house, car, scooter etc.............
prices paid by dealers will always be less than that through private sales for obvious reasons..................
