It's been stated before that there are dodgy plugs around, especially NGKs. There was a thread about counterfeit ones. I changed to Nippon Denso and have had no problems. Multiply the NGK number by 3 to get the equivalent in ND. ie. B7ES = ND21, B8ES = ND24, B9ES = ND27. Got mine from MBD. Make sure you fit the right plug for the type of riding you are doing.

like i've allready said it does'nt matter what plug i use ngk ,nippon denso or champion it's just the same

i had this problem,i tried every spark plug available, it would only last a few miles then when i stopped it wouldn't restart.
eventually i took the flywheel off,and it turned out that flywheel had rubbed through the wires coming out of the stator. i put a new stator on,fixed the wiring back correctly and its fine now. could be worth checking.

Jackpot found out what the problem was while at Dan's for a dyno run.
He had a non resistor type spark plug cap fitted and the plug was also a non 'R' rated one.
Changed the plug cap and everything was OK.
And the dyno run was a success as was mine.
(Dan,do you want to put the graphs on here so people can see them?)
Cheers Dan

now forgive me for being stupid but why would a resistor in the plug or cap make it run better ? i was under the impression that unsupressed was better and have never used br type plugs tho i have used caps with resistors i try not to

I cant claim to understand electrical systems as well as i should, but i do know that Jackpot arrived having used 3 plugs in a 70 mile trip and that something in his electrical system was eating plugs. I seated the scooter on the dyno and saw that it was interfering with the sensative dyno electrical systems......so i checked his HT cap and plug.
I know from past experience that it is recomended that you run either a resistor plug or a supressor cap, to reduce and elec probs on your scoot. So if you have a surpressor cap, you can get away with a B8ES plug...but if your cap aint a surpressor type, you need the B
R8ES plug (R being resistor).
Anyway....i changed his HT cap to asurpressor typr, and it stopped interefering with the dyno equipment and stopped eating plugs......so i presume it 'calms down' (surpresses) electrical surges and stops plugs burning out................

Thats why in the 80s everyone down our street would be banging on me mam and dads door complaining that our kids scoot made the tellys go funny when he whopped down the street..

.OH and the fact his AF clubman woke there bains up..

I'll get them on sometime soon.

exellent dyno session yesterday and who would have thought my plug problem was caused by a simple cap but came home down the a1 and m1 at a steady 65 70 with plenty left running like a dream now and still on the same plug.you're a very clever man on that dyno dan, cheers mate
