Is this recommended with a chrome slide?
Right, got the height thing, just wondering about the rake behind. I may be looking at modifying a VHSH flat slide and depending on how much you raise the cutaway, possibly from 4 to 5.5mm on mine, if you follow the existing rake don't you run the risk of breaking into the back of the slide, or do you file to finish the rake at the same point?
Has anyone got a picture of before and after modification?

Didnt take pictures but followed the advice on here taking .5 of a mm of at a time. I used a dremmell on slow speed and just matched the angle best i could seems to have worked fine. Ended up taking of 1mm in total to totally clear.

No, its a big belt sander, but it worked for that little job.
still need to buy a Powerfile...

Here's a pic of a 3.0 (top) and a 4.0 Mikuni TMX30 slide. The width has increased on the 4.0 by what looks like 1mm in total i.e. a half a mm either side to 1mm in height and raked back proportionately too. Looking at this it seems a tool of a certain radius is cut in 1mm deeper giving this profile for a leaner slide. I think maybe making a template of the radius before removing any material could be useful.
Is this the same method employed on Dellorto slides?
