I have looked at the angled downdraft carbs from the RG250 before. The slight angle on the venturi matches the angle of the tuned inlet manifolds made by CDC et al very nicely, but when you have boxes of Dell'orto bits in the workshop, it is hard to change camps, even if you know the RG carb is going to be very good.

I had a chat with Jimmers tonight, and he can get me a discount at Allens, but I'm still gonna call in at my tame breaker's place tomorrow. I reckon he'll charge me a fiver.

interesting idea though, as is a twin carb set up with one following the other so that on full throttle both became open. go on have a go, someone should.....not me though or the manifold would be made from conduit fittings :?

I thought of that when looking at the 3d computer model of the GT kits where you can switch parts on and off. If you leave both inlet manifolds switched on you can see what I mean.

yes me too. what interested me was that you would get the benafit of the small carb at low revs and the benafit of a larger carb at higher revs.

i mentioned it to mark when i bought a gt kit and he said it was not a bad idea. a bitch to set up though i would imagine :?

I think Diablo has done some back to back stuff with GT kits and said the 30mm version only really makes it sup more fuel rather than do much for power.

well the 24mm mikuni is such a good carb that i think a 30mm delly would struggle to compete. people are getting close to ts1 power with 24mm mikunis and rapidos. cant be bad.

A mixed day at the breakers yesterday.

I couldn't find any rubbers that were a good fit. That really surprised me. However, for £20, he sold me two 28mm dell'orto carbs (2 stroke) and 17 main jets. Result.

However, I still can't mount them........ ;)

why not buy them new, they are a perishable part anyway (nightmares of gpz s and gsx s still run through my head) and once hard unless they are supported by the airbox thet tend to split.

ask jimmers, he got me mine.

Allen's Performance wanted £60 for a pair, and that's too much money. I've built entire scooters for less than that (well, I might exaggerate a bit, but I'm a guy who always works with a zero budget).

To me fair, Jimmers has offered to help and I'm likely to take him up on it.

However, I have now found another bike breakers, and I think he is about 2 miles from my house. This could be a result. If he hasn't got what i want, it will at least be able to se what other stuff he has. :D

Did you get anywere finding flanged bike inlet rubbers to fit your needs martin, also be carfull using a flange off a jap bike to weld on your inlet, you would have thought the japs would use a high grade alloy, they dont, they get away with it because its coated in rubber, when you try to flat it off after welding you,ll find its full of faults, air bubbles and the like, I used one off a Suzuki :x , if youv got some good grade alloy plate make your own.
