Looks like the shock has worked it's way off the bush. I always put a washer on the stud before fitting the shock, then one on the other side with a nylock.

The bush was on the damper properly, I use big washers to make sure it doesn't move (after advice on here)

Did you use a big washer on both sides of the shock?

I've just loked at mine Bolko and if the spring compressed far enough then the standard domed wheel nuts on my Li S would foul on the shock. I reckon your springs are fecked and the rubber buffer knackered or missing

Yes I did use big washers both sides and the rubber buffer was ok when the damper was on the Lambretta :)

This happened on my chop but I do have big pike nuts on it.
I rebuilt them using MB progressive springs and all new internals
and it seems to have cured it.

What is the clearance between the lower rubber bush and the fork link is it excessive.

No Jims,

I've had my significant other rock the bike and put the front on and if braking hard the damper will almost hit the axle nut. So if riding and braking hard it could hit, so I'm going to get some stiffer springs asap and see how that goes.

I didn't realize you had a hydraulic disc on there, that will make it dip more than normal anyway, I still think you will find you buffers have been taking a pounding, best to be prepared to change them when you do the springs.

You got me worried there Bilkers, so I popped up the workshop to have a look at mine. If I went over a very, very ;) deep pothole or suchlike, it looks like the top of the dome nuts might just scrape the dampers, or might miss completely, as its a very tight gap if at all. When I rebuilt my forks I went for the uprated springs anyway.
You Dremelled out that layshaft puller I sent you, yet?
