Stiff crank

If all else fails,it may not be what you want to hear but a twisted crank will make it stiff,i know its new but its something to bear in mind,mine was stiff and i couldnt understand why,had it checked and it wasnt true which explained it.

Same, but different. Had a crank built(indian web, rd rod,welded) with shims. When it was all put together the rod felt a hair tight, ie con rod would't drop to the bottom from vertical. Machinst said that's what you really want. After a summer of thrashing it up and down the East Coast, I took it apart for a look. Rings all sorts of wore up and now the conrod had at least 10thou play, side to side. Shims still look to be good, was screaming the day before I took it apart. Obviousely the 10 thou went somewhere, but the webs were welded, so it wasn't in them moving apart 

That's not going anywhere...
