for me and i think most others it was a matter of getting what was cheapest and easiest at the time in 83 when i built my first race scoot gp headsets wernt around but everyone had sx ones you could get them for just a few quid after all many more scooters approx 200.000 were built wih this type of headset compaired to say 45.000 italian gp,s at the time spare gp (indian headsets) were not freely available well not in the shops i went to i do remember buying a complete sx headset in 84 for £25 from a dealer this had everything on it light leavers and all the control items ready to bolt on i thought it was expensive at the time we would stock pile sx headsets becouse in a team of 3 lammys and 1 vespa(mark green) someone was always crashing if you see my scoot it has a damaged headset i welded mine a few times as well

Funnily enough this picture was posted on the LCGB site the other day, and shows both our scooters - No.117 (is that your foot sticking out of Malc Andersons bottom  ), and me waiting behind (No.27 with green/black leathers) :D
