Does anyone know specs on the ring peg position of the ts185 piston?
The earlier TS185 piston can be used, if you're prepared to relocate the top ring peg. I've had it done before, and it's still going strong several thousand klicks later, but easier to just use the later 'ER' piston, which is identifiable by cut-aways around the gudgeon/wrist pin.
TS185-ER piston part number is 12110-29900. The 'ER' gudgeon/wrist pin is 12151-78110 (this part number has been superseded by 12151-60D00). The 'ER' pins are 16x49.5mm (non-ER types are longer at ~53.5mm). I've also been informed that Wiseco part number S255,
should fit, but have no experience. The Wiseco is 16x49.9mm.

Oh I'd love to chippy! Trust me but dumping a ton of cash into my 25bhp p-range and having a 3 month old future scootergirl has put paid to that!

Some very useful information given here- thanks!
Especially the part codes
I think keeping it old school is key, especially for the style of bike it's going in, which I think also points towards sticking with a tried and tested setup.
I think a ts185er piston with a 115/116 rodded crank is the way to go (60mm stroke) to help keep vibration down.
Some good food for thought here
Thanks

Sure what ever option you decide on will the right one and good luck with the young one. A lot of fun coming there

Thanks guys, you've been very helpful as always, I've got some new information to stimulate the old brain which is what I wanted.
I'll be sure to make a build thread when things get underway

Stay safe fellas!
