People are tightening the nuts at the top and bottom of the shock. This effectively clamps the R1 shock into the frame. When the shock need to move on it's mounts (like, when it goes over a bump), the shock can't pivot around the top and bottom mount and "gives" at the weakest point, which is where the rod fixes at the top. Eventually, fatigue takes over and the rod breaks away.doggbhoy wrote:r1 shocks snapping!! whats this , how many times has this happened? f***k me what next!
The solution I am using is nylon bushes at the top and bottom and nyloc half-nuts to secure it to the frame/engine, but not tight. You must be confident that the shock can pivot freely at both ends.
I do agree with those people who say that the R1 shock is inappropriate for use on a Lambretta, but I'm trying.
