Before turning I will alwayslook over my shoulder a few times to hopefully let the car behind no I’m up to something. I then point with arm outstretched to were I’m turning. All this still does not work because once I set out on my lammy I have superpowers and become invisible

Cars overtaking while you've got your arm out to turn right seems to be a classic. I remember stopping on a main road and was just about to right turn when some dozy mare overtook me. She didn't even slow behind me, just went straight past. If I'd have been a second or two quicker I might be dead now. Scarey stuff.

You say that but I find it's the older generation who are far more guilty when it comes to non-use of indicators. The old gits round my way haven't a clue where their indicators are.

Do have to slightly disagree with you and agree with him lost count of how many times on duel carriageways i've been overtaken by a car in my lane and its been a youngster who hasn't a clue they've done wrong.Hand signal wise i tend to do a couple of pointing signals first then hold the hand out sort of my attempt to do a flashing type of signal,still doesn't bleedin work though half the time.

I think some drivers believe that when they touch the indicator switch a steel spike will come up through the seat and stab them in a painful spot!!

I am guilty of this :oops: the problem is that with a full face helmet, the telltale indicator isn't in your eyeline so you don't see it without deliberately looking down. Also, most indicator switches available are a bit awkward to use accurately. The one on my GTS cancels by pushing it in which is quite convenient but is still a little hit and miss with winter gloves on

I'm not saying that younger drivers don't either, but where I live there are a lot of retired folk, and pretty much every day I ride or drive behind one of the doddery old gits and they don't indicate at a single junction or roundabout, but will indicate to go past a parked car. I also find it's the older folk who tend to camp in the middle lane on motorways regardless of what speed they are doing.

Both young and old are a hazard but just in different ways.
