Thanks Coaster. It's an SR kit so yes piston ported. I've ordered one of the short filters from scooter centre that fits directly on to the carb maybe that will help ?

Worth a try certainly providing it's big enough and flows enough air with the panel on. As I mentioned before, playing with the idle jet and air screw might reap some benefits
