Perhaps related to this, screwfix do sell the nordlock-type washers that you get with sip rims. Search their site for Heico. Unfortunately no M7, as they could be good on endplates.

Think i will stick to nylocks and washers (£3 for 100 at Toolstation) for split rims, use once and then as a normal nut after.

I use these on my own Sip rims and carry a split rim spare, so no need to carry any spare nuts as the kart nuts fit both.

Merely my own personal choice and not a recommendation.

Nylocks won't fit Sip rims.

Thanks for that advice corrado, looks like i will be getting kart nuts, i've never liked the sip nuts and nord lock washer idea and it means i don't have to worry about nylock nuts.

Just had a thought,do you use washers with the k nuts?.

Yes, I still use the Nordlock washers.

It's also been mentioned about screwfix selling a version of Nordlock washers and from memory I think they're stainless. I'd be cautious about using those on an alloy wheel. I'm sure I've read somewhere [possibly on Nordlock's site] about not using a washer that's harder than the material it's used on.

Also be cautious with the Kart nuts as the Kart stores also list an M8 flanged nylock nut that looks like the K nut but it's just a normal nylock nut with a flange and is too big to fit the recess in the Sip rims. These ..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Go-Kart-20-x- ... 0121591203

Martin, so are these a 12mm socket size as opposed to 13mm?

I don't have SIP rims, I have AFR. I'd be interested if these Kart nuts would fit AFR ones?

Hi Paul, they're 8mm thread but have a small head that needs a 10mm socket, worth using a deep socket when used with Sip studs on a split rim spare. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't work on the AF rims as well as Sip.
