Yep exactly! Bowers bore gauges and access to some nice toys at work.
The piston rings have lost their "spring". whilst I keep searching Google for options are there any known japanese made replacement rings that will fit?

Thanks Gary... list of required spares made.
I started with the engine today.. it was in a right state so decided to clean it up first.
Luckily I have a large ultra sonic tank so it makes quick work of the dirt and grime.
Have your speakers down before playing the video.

Who needs the proper clutch tool anyway
Side case after cleaning
2 clear cracks starting from the corners of the clutch lever spring slot with a possible 3rd slightly higher up
.
I will use dye penetrant to see the length then grind the cracks out, weld and then restore the profile.
Will also use a milling bit to round out the bottom of the spring slot so it doesn't happen again.

I think I saw cleaning fluid seeping out of the "crack" but It could simply have been fluid tracking along. I suspect it's cracks as it's from a corner which is a typical stress point. However, casting marks are a possibility as they look uniform though the surface is smooth.
I will update tomorrow.
Doom: I'm in aviation so lots of support shops and tooling possibilities.

Those are casting marks. What should concern you is that it was blasted all assembled. You now have glass grit everywhere and may damage parts when it comes apart for additional (correct) cleaning.

No concerns at all as all parts go into the tank before and after for about 30 mins and that removes everything.
