:flaming: Kick a man when hes down why dont you.... I thought he had enough problems so I didnt mention the sharp edges on cylinderhead... but a little work with a mini flap wheel will sort out this possible detonation point... well spotted John...

The thing that broke (if it was a piston ring peg) looks like it was probably just defective, probably a loose pin fom new... I recently spoke to Mark Broadhurst about this very subject when viewing his new kit at the Euro... I asked why these higher spec kits wernt pinned with (what I believe is) the strongest method... the pin is inserted from the top through the piston crown then ground flat.. the pin is visible now sideways on through the ring groove... The peg for top and bottom are both inseted this way then each unneccessary protrusion ground down leaving only one peg per groove... some very high spec pistons are done this way... They can take much higher latteral forces pinned this way (IMO... latteral forces can loosen ring pegs)... The wider the ports and greater number of ports, then this can add to this tendancy for a sideways force to be applied to the pegs from the piston ring ends... Latteral forces...

were has the radius from the squish band into the bowl gone on this head? [/quote wrote:
I think this could be a thread on it´s own, but when you look at modern (mid 90´s upwards) cylinderheads from 2-strokes there is no radius from the squish area to the bowl.
There are a few articles in the www as well about this design, interesting to read...

Goldeneye - was the SIM taken out when you got it back or anything else out of place? Your Mrs would have got that message if it had been removed OR if it had simply gone out of network coverage. You get a different message when you turn the phone off because it has a chance to send a logging off signal to the network. The different message is no proof of foul play.

I spotted the guy walking round with it in the morning. I would have been very suspicious if it wasn't for the fact that one of them did have an identical coat. They were very pissed that night so I can believe it was a mistake.

in hindsite sticky, i think it was a genuine mistake... mag said the lad was apologetic and all that. i picked it up today, and everything was hunkydory. i just thought the worst being the thick end of 200 mile from home with no keys for my scoot, home, bankcard, money, sunglasses (incognito you see!), phone etc. gotta say thanks for the offers of jackets from you, nic cicutti, another lad ive never met before, and money off three people (cheers anna , who in the end i accepted the gratefull offer of 20 quid petrol money) i got a jacket to wear home off big ralph appleby.... he lives in south shields, so i thought it would be easier to return. their was crap network coverage at st. bees, that would explain the no signal when jan rang it from home. didnt spoil at fantastic weekend... like i said, "i aint gonna cry after that ride" cancelled my bankcard though...... so a bit skint till new one comes through...... cue violins..... the lad i question can get me a MASSIVE glenmorangie when he see"s me ..... got it going with a pair of pliers and a borrowed allen key..... and home in time for sunday dinner with wor lass.......

I imagine wearing Ralphs jacket was akin to wrapping yourself in a 3 man tent

Hi Bazman
read your post on the other forum aswell my rb is no28 and it came with i think the banshee piston (made in japan cast on the inside and a rough piston crown) so did Af change from this piston to the vertex piston and if so why because its better or cheaper?
Just had a look at dans first post about the rb spec from january and his one looks like the vertex piston. so it may be just what ever they can get. What piston did you get with your new barrel?

Regards
Russell
