if you send it with someone who wont take engines and it gets Lost/damaged dont bother trying to claim.
if they do take engine`s make sure you get extra cover. I use APC as well.

I've heard that John, but never had a problem and they're quite cheap.......

I've never had a problem as, up until now, it's always been under the car, and stuff I've sent before this started happening has always got there.

But having experienced it first hand I would never trust them to deliver again - particularly if it was something I had sold to someone else.

I to use Hermes for sending scooter stuff more for convenience than anything else as we have a drop off shop in the next village, so far no problems. Forget post office or parcel farce their far to expensive.

Mine was left in the bin with a note saying it was under it, I thought how the f**k had they put it under that when it was full.It was inside on top of the rubbish the day that they were collecting lucky I looked before it was collected

This is off another forum and from someone that works fot MyHermes.....

Unfortunately most couriers are under a lot of pressure at the moment. We are having software issue with our new machines so aren't getting collections through plus a lot of the details of parcels aren't coming through so we're trying to remember what we have in the car. Our volumes have spiked due to Black Friday and we are working 7 days to cope. We're bound to make the odd mistake but we are working hard to get things delivered and give a good service to our customers.

I dread receiving parcels from Hermes. Last year I ordered a GT186 kit, GT crank and carb from Rich T and received a text saying it had been delivered to a safe place. When I got home I discovered they had thrown in over my fence into the back garden and the box had taken a proper battering, despite being covered in Fragile tape. Fortunately it was very well packed and protected.

On another occasion I had something delivered by them, I also received a delivered to safe place text, only to find the parcel under my front door mat. Wouldn't necessarily be an issue, only this parcel happening to be around 2'x2' and 1' deep!

Interparcel and parcel2go are the middle man, you use their account (better rates) than going direct with the couriers. Some courier firms dont do one offs/cash accounts so would be the only way of using them via those 2 sites.
With DPD your parcel is scanned about 6 times between collection and being out for delivery.
Personally id avoid hermes and yodel. It does depend on your driver at either end for your happiness of service though, all companies have good and bad drivers.
Whoever you use, drain the fluid and make sure its packed well....Nothing gets damaged in transit if its packaged properly

Hermes and many others don't allow sending engine or vehicle parts - check the T&Cs before you send stuff.
