Yep it's a bit of a lottery.....
I prefer the old way with the regional offices - at least you knew what to expect and could talk to someone face to face.

Why is this thread entitled "Nova" when there is no mention of Nova or any related question in this opening post please?

I'm looking to register a vehicle in uk from abroad. Never done it before, I know you need to complete a NOVA but not sure how to get info if I have no supporting paperwork. Maybe nova could read v55

Just be aware when you fill your form in that you have to be careful what you put. Any vehicle bought in from Europe has to be Nova'd within 15 days or else you're liable for a hefty fine. Most people make something up if they do it online and have had the scooter for a while. Alternately you can write to the PTU in Kent and explain it in a nice letter. Both the scooters I've done to date I've had since before the Nova thing. They were private sales and there was no paperwork, and they were happy with that.

According to Google it's the
Punjab
Technical
University.
I know it takes forever to ride across but I didn't know Kent was in the Punjab.

You will need to start again from scratch as if it is a first Registration. You will not be able to re-clain the old Reg' No unless you have documentary supporting evidence linking the frame number to the Reg' No ie: Old log book or MOT certificate etc. If you have any of those you can re- claim the number using a V765 form, if not it is the first registration route unfortunately. The lack of an engine No is irrelevant and DVLA are not bothered by this. All you need to know can be found here:-
