I had those bgm ones on mine. Use the mudguard to trap the nut against the damper mount and screw in from the other side

I think I'll half pinch that idea and weld the nut to the outside of the damper mount. Or weld the hole up, add 3mm plate then drill and tap.

The nut won't actually touch the mudguard. I stuck a bit of foam between the nut and the mudguard and that held the nut in place. It was easy in the end.
