Gearbox choice

i was gonna use the af gearbox in a rebuild i am doing the 4th gear supplied 36t is not flat all across on the bottom face [its recessesed by 1.5mm on the inner lugs] consequently the gears come below top of laysshaft so wont work ....italiain fourth gears are flat all across
been trying to contact them for 4 weeks now with no joy phone..e-mail etc etc its put me back on me build as i would have bought another 36t off them they list two but they dont want to know ..so cant take risk of ordering one ..i give up ...............................good luck if you can speak to them i have 4 more lammies to build dont think i,ll spend my hard earned with them

I have just read your thread, it says that you managed to fix the issue with another 4th gear. Have you managed to ride the scoot since you fitted it?

i had a complete italian gp 200 box tried the 4th gear on and everything looked fine on the layshaft but i didnt really want to split that set up
had no luck trying to get a 36t 4th gear so have reluctantly decided to go with the 200 box with 19----46 sprockets ..its on a rt195 set up
i just gave up with af asgetting nowhere with them the weeks had passed as ireally wanted to use the close ratio box [is brand new]

I seriously can't understand why they don't have a click and buy website like 99.9% of other suppliers. They must lose £1000's in sales every year. If I want AF stuff I get it from Andy Francis or others that stock their stuff. Ok they are still making money from those sales but they could make so much more. I've tried to call them so many times but never get an answer.

Must of been a miracle, I phoned to order one yesterday afternoon and they answered straight away!

Anyway, I like the sound of the close ratio box so I have gone for a full gear box rather than risk matching my old cogs to it as I know there is some wear. Should have the new box tomorrow so will be keen to get it fitted and see what it's like. Hopefully I won't have the 4th gear trouble that philcasino1973 had, hope that was a one off I have had a good look on the internet and haven't seen anything that has put me off, quite the opposite, from what I have read it looks like a good box for the TS1....time will tell
