Really?

I've seen two pack up this year alone and saw many more last year.

More like providing a public service, helping fellow scooterists avoid buying shite is much more rewarding than sitting back and saying nothing.

Eden,

What packed up on those failures? I ask as I commonly replace duff Indian LT coils, and very occasionally pickups, with BGM replacements and they have all been spot on, to date.

Everything fucks up eventually, I just try to avoid using stuff that fucks up sooner than other stuff.

I've had a good run so I'm due a few failures, no doubt it won't be long till I'm the one being left at the side of the road lol

The worst thing for failures is doing too many miles, that's for sure. If you want something to last forever, put it on and park your scooter up and never use it.

Eden,

Our club have had excellent experience of the BGM stators, although 2 people have been initially negative or confused by the pickup height giving no spark or poor spark, which was then cured by reading the instructions and/or being told why they are now supplied with 3 little packing shims. When I explained that this is a benefit for anyone trying to run one with an 80s Ducati AF flywheel it no longer seemed like a bad move on SC's part. Other than that issue, I'm not sure whether we've had any others fail.

As I said in my previous comment, it would be good to know what had actually failed on those stators as, like you, I tend to repair old duff Indian stators by fitting Ducati/Vespa LT and pick-up or BGM items, both of which then serve me very well. However, when people ask, 'What stator should I buy?', it makes no sense to tell them to buy X Y and Z to build their own, unless they know what they are doing, hence I recommend the BGM stator, which seems to be the best option available. If people do have a duff stator that they want to repair then I'll tell them to source a genuine Vespa stator to rob bits from, source Italian replacement parts (not easy to do and I suspect some parts are not!) or buy BGM parts. However, unless you can modify the laminate core for the LT and are reasonably decent with your hands and a soldering iron, repair/upgrade is a recipe for disaster!

I do agree that nothing lasts for ever though and had a genuine stator pack up on my PX back in the 90s (bought new 88/89).

Adam, wash your mouth out young man :P

ye in know what your saying, but like you say people need to know what their doing and that applies to fitting a BGM stator too. Often they are far from a straight swop from a non bgm component.
