I have recently bought an RST IOM TT wax cotton jacket and it got some pleasing comments from people when I wore it for the first time at the Solent Cougar's South Downs Ride.
It has a removable liner, which is warm. There are pockets for armour, which I have now filled. The basic price was £180 and the armour was about £27-30, so it was quite prices but I feel good wearing it. I have seen the jacket quite a bit cheaper elsewhere.
I took advice from others and applied a liquid waterproofing product with a brush designed for tents and awnings. I did this before I wore the jacket for the first time. My regret is that I didn't do it more than once, as it only takes a couple of rides for the jacket to get dirty from flies, bugs and road dirt.
Is it waterproof? I don't know yet.......
