I went through the same questions about 12 months ago and here is the advice I was given by Corrado ( it's in a thread called which kit)

In order of state of tune you can go from Casa 186, Mugello, RT, GT, Imola, Casa SS, RB20. All top quality kits and they'll all do what it says on their tins. No such thing as a bad kit these days [discounting the Ebay Indian kits]. Choose the kit that suits your riding style, they're all in the £350 - £500 ish price range.
Don't choose by bhp numbers either .. Casa 186 doesn't fair too well on a dyno but it's a beautiful kit to ride.

The kit is only the start

Once you have chosen the kit you will need the following
1. Exhaust £200ish
2. Carb £120 ish
3. Crank ( look at the kit then decide on what you need) £100 minimum
4. Electronic ignition £150 ish

You will also need the following,
new chain and front sprocket to increase the gearing
Replacement mag housing bearing for the crank

These are my opinions only.
I ended up with an RT195 kit with a 60/110 crank for the following reasons, MB provide superb set up advice, cost & I already had an MB clubman exhaust.
I'm only running the RT it in at the moment but the power delivery feels smooth and it pulls well with the clubman, so I'm impressed, what it won't do is break any land speed records.

Some of the guys I ride with have GT186 and they are as good as if not better than the Rapido 225 I have, but they are 12st wet and I'm a big lad with the wind resistance of a small sailing ship.

If I had to start again with one scooter I would go with a GT 186 kit, sit down with a pro to advise on the correct carb/exhaust/gearing set up for me and go from there.

If you go for a 60/110 crank choose carefully the one I bought need the casings linishing as the conrod kissed the casing, not the end of the world but machining is not something I am able to do. Not all cranks have this problem

Hope this helps

Brilliant advice thanks for that, yeah looking like the GT comes out on top then. I'll get some advice on cranks from the man! Cheers Meds
