Bit of a shame with the customer service at some of the larger and well known scooter dealers. When I've turned up at AF they have always been friendly and helpful it's just a pity they can't employ someone to man the phone and check the e-mails........the missed custom would surely cover the wages ?

I had the same issues with Camlam so it's not only AF

I must've got lucky with AF, I've sent them two or three emails and they've always replied within a few hours. But getting them on the phone has been another matter.

I agree that the smaller retailers really need to up their game regarding responding to customers in the 21st century. In the last couple of weeks, I've had no response to messages sent to Scootopia and TSR, but MB is always quick to reply.

Over 10 years ago i went to a well know dealer near doncaster.
The man was the most obnoxious and unhelpful i have ever encountered.I have never gone back or bought another thing from him again and never will. Not thy my few quid makes a difference.

I go to rayspeed... They are very friendly. Spend lots of time answering questions and explain things.
Probably too much time... But the customer service is very good. You feel valued and prepared to spend money. Well i do anyway.
One guy works behind the counter and appears to know less about lambrettas than i do, but to be fair he knows were the spare parts are.I am mot sure what ray does but i dont suppose he needs to do much.
The others are either fixing scooters or answering questions posed by numpties like me. And whilst answering questions appear not to answer the phone.
They probably need a phone person.

I suspect they don't actually loose much business as they sell to other dealers and indeed, I have managed to source what I needed from Beedspeed who also said they can't get them to answer the phone. The argument that they daren't answer the phones in case they loose concentration is a poor one in my view, if that's the case then they should be honest and not offer an online catalogue. They actually say on their website that emails will be dealt with slowly and it's best to phone :?

i live about a 45min drive from rayspeed, i usually check their online cataloge for the parts i need to make sure they are in stock and just go to see them, pretty much its the only place i buy lambretta parts from, the service they provide is very good in my opinion, heres a good example, i bought one of their lightweight flywheels about 10 years ago, after many years and miles of been thrashed the rivets came loose, i took it back and they exchanged it without any quibbles for just 30 pounds, they didnt even ask me when i bought it, a top notch service, ive had the same issue with then not answering the phone, and i am sure they could sell a lot more parts with a better tele-sales service, i will always buy my parts there, i realise its a little more difficult for those who cant travel to the shop. ray still paints scooters on site and builds up the cranks himself.

Agree trying to hold of anyone at AF can be a pain but worth the wait. If you need to ask advice on lambrettas then there's no better place, honest and helpful and don't treat you like some others. Between 5-6 is the only time to get hold of anyone, I sometimes email Katen at AF and ask her to get Ben to call me, then grab a coffee and listen. If you want a lesson on lambretta engines he's your man. Oh lastly closed on Mondays, how sensible

coaster wrote:Does anyone know if AF Rayspeed are closed on Tuesdays? I've called them around 10 times today but the phone rust rings out after a minute or so. I would email but their website says it's best to phone. I only want to order a part for a 6 plate clutch but you can't actually order anything directly from their online shop :?

Alternatively does anyone else sell their parts?
I tried for a GP pressure plate for their cassette clutch.
No answered emails no answered calls on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I always thought it was grim up north with everyone doing a 12 day week but obviously I was wrong
I got the parts I needed elsewhere
