Transfer tuning on RT195
Sounds like dropping the front sprocket to 16 may help. I believe the Li125 gearboxes are closest ratio, I guess they had to be riding a standard 125.

if your thinking of using a gp200 gearbox, i would suggest paying just a bit more and buying af rayspeeds close ratio gearbox, 3rd and 4th gear are the same as gp 200 but the 1st gear is longer than a standard box,so second is a perfect ratio between 1 and 3 so you dont drop out of the powerband when you change up, no big gap between 2nd and 3rd like a standard box, ive got one fitted to my rb, ive also got another waiting to go in my rotax project.

I am usingmy Spanish box 5.2 some say there is a big jump from 3rd to 4th but you don't notice with the rt kit as on the dyno it just keeps going up and up I could put a16 sprocket on for 4.9 but I have read with the gap between 3rd and 4th it doesn't work
Id say matching all the the ports is a good idea no need to open them up first , I feel it makes a smoother running engine and just seems good engineering practice

seems like your well set up to do the work so you may as well.
Its all about good flow. Whether you would actually notice the difference on the road? not sure, but at higher revs any obstruction is going to limit the rate of flow.
I use a late li 125 gearbox with 17 front sprocket and never really noticed a problem with gear changes. I ran this gearing on a poorly set up 175 22m and clubman, and now on a highly tuned 195 with jl3 and 28 delly. Gearing seems about right so save the money and run it.
best of luck.

Thanks for the information on the gearbox olliewtf it would be a shame not to be able to use it, its in mint factory fresh condition. If there are no huge jumps between gears then I'll give it a go and put it back in and run it 17x46. I'm using an MB carb manifold which requires only minimal work its almost spot on, needs polishing more than grinding. I know its all the small things that make a good motor so i'll probably end up doing some transfer work.
