I remember this in 97. People hanging out of balconies in flats cheering and some just walking by and couldn't give a toss. The majority were cheering though and very passionate about it. We were testing some Castrol oil at the time and were invited the Castrol HQ in Milan. Treated like royalty as we ride from UK on this new scooter oil. We were just happy it was free. Thanks to Adam for sorting that out. Ride out to the remains of the factory was cool but just didn't appreciate it at the time but it was very smokey on that ride out if I remember correctly.

I go to Livorno (near Pisa) every year and I usually see a couple of Lambrettas. No tatty ones, they are all immaculate and original. Loads of Vespas and millions of scooters in general. You soon get accustomed to seeing stunning women zip past on scooters dressed in tine dresses and 4" heels.

The Vespa factory is only a half hour away in Pontedera so it's no surprise that Vespa is king here. But Lambrettas are about but they are as much cherished as they are here. No one seems to ride one as a runabout in the same way they would a PX, for example.
