Not going to be easy spinning the die for the 5mm with a 1" socket, that is a small thread to be wobbling a big socket around on. Best make sure the sockets fit tight or the threads won't chase properly either. Good idea though.
Now, if you had two halves you could screw together, that would be the ticket, you could slowly start on a bad thread then cut deeper as the thread cleaned up.
Right then, off to the patent office...
