piston shims ~ needed ? or potential hazard ?

convince him to go for an MEC crank .........Gp one at that.
Then he can fit a wider magside bearing, better tapered flywheel (just convert the boss you have), no piston shims etc etc PLUS should he fancy a better kit then he's already for it crankwise. Defo VFM in my eyes.

yep I agree, and would if it was mine. but this is a get back on the road with minimum outlay job. it should do for what will be required of the bike. he has another scooter that will be getting the more worked over engine
