the protrusion that fits into the crank case sometimes pressure leaks past this and out through the cylinder studs ;) what leaks out also draws in ..
do you do some sort of leakdown test on the engines at work ?

No Never.I will speak to Ian,nice guy,have bought parts from him,in fact,he will be dyno testing it when it is finished.
