Now I have a hole in the carb, no filter, do I need to cover with mesh? Or leave as is, so as not to retrict air flow?

on my TS1 I run a TMX 35 with a LTH manifold and I have a air filter fitted, its uses no more petrol then my mates with a 30 delly.

On my S type TS1 which I have owned from new, I have a tiny hole the size of a ten pence cut in the panel. This was because the 34mm Amal mk2 banjo would catch the panel. The bellmouth of the carbs were also machined down , so that the carb would fit under the GP panel. I have since moved to a 30mm flatslide Dellorto. This uses the standard AF Ts1 manifold and the stepped rubber and is no way near the panel. Can't see why yours has fouled the panel,cheers.Speedy.

Why all the carb shortening and hole cutting when a genuine Keihin PWK (28/33/38mm) is the better carb allround without that hassle?

There a much better carb and easier to set up ,the 35mm retails for about 180 gbp , someone I know just fitted a 35mm to his ts1 230 and has a 3.5bhp increase and 4 ftlbs of torque previous carb was a tm(x)32
the carb came from PSN he was told they fit them to ALL there ts1,s :!:
