Overfill chaincase with oil blow oil seals ?

On the point of breathers and by no means being a small hole. Last weekend took the engine out for a barrel/piston replacement. Didn't drain the oil out as I wasn't going into the chaincase. Anyway, tipped the engine upside down to get the TS1 exhaust flange in place and within a few minutes, the gear box oil had drained out of the filler, had covered the bench and was dripping on my shoes. So that's another lesson in life and lambrettas that i have learn't.

And as to your original question, I'm also in the no camp.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the level plug and drain a bit out?
