Bristolmods got the only surefire way of finding a clue - you need to look where blasting & resprays are unlikely to have touched it - inside the frame headstock and in the engine mount tube on the frame are a couple more places to investigate.

So other than the above there's no real , sure way of knowing from frame and engine number?

The lock/catch would not have been painted by Innocenti.

I think you're probably right. I doubt Innocenti would have sprayed it in situ and plastered the rivets and all.

In the US it's been called Riverside blue, LI Blue, Baby blue etc etc.
At the end of the day I call it a manly blue
Reality is your LI was either blue or mint green, pick a color and run with it.
If you can find a little spot under the frame loop that wasn't painted over you MIGHT be able to ascertain what color it was from the factory. The blue and green look a lot alike after 53 years.
There are no color descriptors tied to frame numbers (unlike modern cars).
