Reshaping a kickstart

go in any garage with an oxycetalyne torch, give em a couple of quid to heat it up in a vice and a short piece of scaffold will bend it any way you want. just reformed my original sx200 kickstart that was bent out of shape. dunno about hitting it , just heat to cherry red where you need to bend it and do a section of the s shape back to the way you want it. dunno about rehardening the metal??? only the section that attachs to the quadrant is liable to break, youre not going to snap a kickstart??!! i dont think theyre hardened in the first place, the strength comes from the shape when forged, the teeeth may have a degree of induction hardening tho.

Ooh 'Ello..

I used a bit of scaffold pole & bunged it in a vice to bend it. Worked fine, just took it easy.
