I find tdc,then using the arrow on the flywheel I mark the mag housing,then remove the flywheel and fit a timing degree disc.Move the disc so it points at the tdc mark,in my case I then count 17 degrees btdc and again mark the mag housing at that point.Remove the disc and replace the flywheel,using the arrow on the flywheel turn the crank until the arrow points at the btdc mark on the flywheel.When the lines on the pickup line up with the lines on the flywheel in the window then your timing is done.Use a strobe to verify.

Cheers , mine is about a inch of line with that method . Where can i get a decent flywheel, do i need a lighter weight with the jl3 pipe.
