Can fit the cylinder using my fingers... If it's that tight though will it retract after braking...?

If it's the one which has been in there, it will have adjusted to its situation. Without a quick grope its impossible to tell over the internet. If it leaked before, then a removal and refit is not really likely to mend it.
You could take it down to a good bearing place or better yet, a seal supplier, and they could measure it up and see if they can find the original application.

Many years ago, when the mk3 Cortina was having problems with discs and brakes in general, we found out that the disc runout will knock the pads back, so the pads just touch the disc. This was found to not cause any issues.
A disc will always have some runout, as the wheel bearing has to have "some" clearance, and that sits between the disc and calliper mounting.

Perfect! I bought the caliper 3-4 years ago but never fitted it. One would expect the seals to have at least that shelf life but again it's from the far east...
