tea strainer is quite restrictive, that's the whole point!

I run a Ramair foam filter on 30mm VHSH delly on my TS1 225cc, when we dyno tested it at 23 bhp, we tested with and without the air filter just to make a comparison.
No noticeable difference in bhp at all so i can say that I'm happy to run with this filter.
After one quick blast around the block, I found a piece of stone (road had been re-gritted) on the floor board near the carb, would not have wanted that to be sucked in.

I ordered a sheet of air filter foam off ebay & plan to attach it to an adaptor, supplied from mb for the air filter I couldn't use as it squashed against the panel. The foam is 15mm in thickness and I plan to cut it & glue it inside the adaptor. This should be ok yeah?

You'll find out but I guess it will be quite restrictive..

Doubt it very much without seeing what adaptor you mean?

If you have a circular adaptor that normally would have a larger diameter filter, filling the adaptor will result in more restriction to be honest, again though you need to explain better what adaptor you are talking about? got a link?

I'm guessing it's the rubber ring adapters that come with the Marchald filters MB sell.

Thats what I would worry about! might as well use an old jockstrap as a filter, probably less restrictive :-)

Be careful! If it was dyno'd with the filter on the chances are you will have to richen up the carb to run safe with it off especially if it was restrictive......you are now sucking in a lot more air than before!
In regards to "is it ok to run without a filter"......well years ago myself and friends with TS1's used to run without filters no probs although you did get a nice run of oil down the sidepanel and floorboard :)

Gonna give the powerjet a tweak and increase the petrol a tad and see how it goes :D
