Glad you got it sorted Spring strength must be an issue as I have also bought one of Tino Sachi's kickstart shafts and that has the mounting groove for the spring plate machined higher up the piston bore to increase the pressure.
Might try that next time.....we do however, have a further problem..in that the same bike was jumping out of 2nd gear (Indian GP 200) and thus changed the cursor (sliding dog) and it's now not jumping out of gear, but is quite hard to get in gear (bit more force needed) and seems to me (over my bikes) that there's quite a bit of travel on the handlebar so we are gonna check the plastic gear and wheel and pins, but could it be the new sliding dog is a little too tight (it was a snug fit) so wondered if Italian sliding dog on indian layshaft might be an issue
