whilst no expert you have to think that it's better than the internal one. correctly set up an outboard disc will give your feel and better stoping power. Set up wrong and they can be a tad harsh...

There's no reason why an original inboard disk shouldn't be more than adequate properly set up with decent pads and cable.
Hydraulics may be better if properly set up but done badly can be just as bad. I think the disk on many of these is too big and combined with a twin pot caliper and too big a master cylinder can make them 'grabby' which in turn might mean that you get the advantages from antidive.
