Check the spigot isn't hitting the flywheel housing. A mate of mine snapped the bottom off of a TS1 barrel because of that.

took the barrel studs off and the barrel seated no problem,fitted another set of studs I had and it went on a lot better,fitted the head and tightened down the nuts lightly and it all pulled together ok,as per earlier post machining of barrel stud holes slightly off.
