Hmmm interesting.
Just went to the shed to sort this all out this morning and thought I'd ensure it still wouldn't start, and I was right, nothing despite a spark.
But found a crappy old cdi in a box of bits and thought id give it a try and it fired up perfectly first kick! So maybe it was that after all!
Which probably means my mates spare one I tried on the road is also a knackered one!

Let's hope you have found it, although CDI's don't generally fail intermittently it's quite possible that they will. For future occasions, buy yourself a cheap CDI from ebay, try it on the bike to make sure it works OK then wrap it in bubble wrap and put it in your toolbox for the next time you break down then you can either eliminate the CDI from your investigations or use it to get you home. A few weeks ago I bought a CDI off ebay, brand new from India for £4.99 post free. I tried it on the scoot along with a few others I had kicking around and it was one of the three I took with me to Switzerland (none needed in the end
).
