The brake light and horn don't run through either the ignition key switch or lighting selector switch (on li's ) so my best guess is it's a switch problem.
Do you have an ignition switch, If you have look at the connections to that and give it a couple of operations if the fault appears to see if it clears.
If you have the kill switch then give the lighting selector switch connections a check then give it a couple of operations if the fault appears to see if it clears.

No I don't have a kill switch
I tried yesterday turning the ignition switch between 2 and 3 but nothing

In 2 days time I switch it on and it will probably work it's so hit and miss

A simple test is to bypass the ignition switch on one of the circuits to see if the problem goes away on that circuit but remains on the other circuits.
Try this, the wiring is based on Italian ac 6 pole wiring with ignition switch
Connect the orange wire that feeds into the horn/dip switch to the brown feed from the stator and confirm that the headlight high/ lo beam works ok. If it does your problem is in the switch.
The horn and brake light should remain working.

No,it was the main feed wire in the centre of the fitting. It was on my series 2 and I dont have a kill switch,I've converted it to use an ignition switch and I just use the dip/mainbeam and horn on the handlebar light switch.

You need to get yourself a wiring diagram and go through the loom. Pull each connection out in turn, make sure the terminals have been crimped tight and that there is no corrosion. If it still does it after that, buy a replacement ignition switch.
