I reckon more expensive sorta sums it up. I believe Ralph Saxelby created the ultimate clubman, and that the superlative build quality justified the price. Scooterings test rated the AF clubman above the Bgm.

ive used an af clubman, an ancillotti( mk 1) , a gori ( no rear seperate baffle) and an mbgm all on the same scoot over the last four years or so and i found the gori and the mb rev far better than the other two, ancillotti has the best sound but restrictive and split twice , af a bit better but baffle rattled around after a year , both good value, gori was great revs high, but loud and mbgm is about the same .. ill get back to you in a year about the mbgm all thrashed on the road ..

it appears that the different exhausts, understandably, give a different spread of power. An exhaust that may suit one rider (who potters around town and rarely gets into 4th) may not suit a Rally going rider who munches the motorway miles......or someone who lives in a very hilly area....then add to pot the gearbox and kit and you have a lovely dilemma....
this probably explains why i've had 4 exhausts, all of which i rate, but i still can't decide which is "best" for me

I run the best box pipe for a lammy, and its a factory part

... Indian big bore, (ive welded it up so it"ll last a lifetime) 20 quid, had it for years, looks original, sounds great. 250 quid for a box pipe AND you've gotta paint it?

You've hit the nail on the head there, well said. Clubman's are the same shape, I guess you can play around with the baffle inside, increase the neck and down-pipe size to slightly increase the BHP etc. Expansion chambers must do the trick but they don't look right to me, too much like a mot-erbike.
I've got scoots with a MB-BGM, AF and Clubman on, the noise seems to make them sound better. I think there's even a case for Innocenti getting it right with a standard 38mm down-pipe, even on the GP200's. On a slightly related note, people can get better results from a small carb. It's all so difficult to get right, the market is so flooded with ad on's and opinions.

I remember yrs ago in the Taffspeed interview in Scootering that they really rated the Indian bigbore as the best all rounder.
