OK... a night in the garage....
Took of the Kytronik.... same
Changed CDI to new Ducati.... same
Changed statis timing back to 17dbtdc ---- same
Changed Carb back to BGM PWK 30mm...... same
So got to be electrical right?
That leaves BGM stator, BGM flywheel etc to be changed... oh and Plug lead
so tomorrow night I will change the plug lead, then will change stator to a spare Indian one I have
Then change out the flywheel.....

And the winner was.......
BGM Stator...... Guess the pickup is gubbed!!!
Think i've had this problem for a while, and that's what made me try the Dellorto because I couldnt dial in the PWK closely enough....
Stuck on the old indian stator and it zings way up the revs
Every day's a schoolday.
Thanks very much for your suggestions....

Is there much difference in the height of the pickup contacts between the two stators?
Had the mag housing previously been machined for an AF?

Out of interest, how old is the BGM stator?
There seems to be more posts about problems with these recently and I wondered if it was lower quality standards on the newer ones or the older ones starting to fail as they age.
The question is not purely academic as I am about to build an engine for someone and it includes a complete BGM ignition setup including flywheel!

This was a brand new mag housing Ross.
Not sure about differences in heights of the pickups....
The stator was about 14 months old I guess, flywheel 6 months old.
The flywheels are lovely, BUT.... the dirt and crud gets all over the flywheel nut and more importantly the threads for the flywheel puller.
The centre on mine has also rusted (the anodising not standing up to salt on the roads) I've now covered them in anchor wax for protection.

I've never met an electronic device yet that "never fails", some just fail less than others....
