I bought one of the pillion seat ones because the riders ones looked to wide but then it depends on your seat size (both of them Mine fits the seat well and the straps hold it in place.

That one fits Mr. G's seat very well.

I have the gel type and for the money its not bad. Used it for the first time to Whitby and back: nearly 600 miles and although the numbness still occurred it didn't occur quite as quickly!
Having said that I think I'm going to get an Airhawk before Switzerland!

The secret is to let just over half the air out while
you sit on it ...... so your sort of floating on it......

Can't you tell we are all getting old, I remember many years ago riding to rallies sat on the air scoop whilst the girlfriend had the snetterton all to herself

Yes me too, we probably did ourselves irreparable damage hence the need for cushions now

I have used a self inflating cushion for long trips which isn't very good after the first 30 miles or so but I managed to set off without it on last years C2C ride. Boy did I miss it, my arse was so battered (cheap Ancilotti copy) that lying in bed on the sunday morning I realised that I'd developed a 3rd bum cheek It was all bruised and swollen, I realised that I would need more padding if I was going to survive the 350 miles home. I ended up stuffing the cushion off the chair in my room into a plastic dustbin sack and gaffer taped it onto the seat. That helped a lot but the damage had already been done. When I got home I pulled it out out of the bin bag undamaged and zipped it back into its embroidered cover and posted it back to the Seacott Hotel with an apology for packing it by mistake

Edit: That was with wearing a pair of cyclig shorts with built in gelll pads, feckin useless

I got a gel pad for Euro 2007 (Germany being 650miles each way), I was riding with the modras (which, as I was on an untuned SIL GP at the end of running in!) meant not being able to stop when I realised after only a few miles the bloody thing was not just completely useless but worse than having anything at all as it was slipping sideways off the seat!

1st fuel stop after about 60 miles I stuffed it down the back of my trousers and set off again.
NEVER AGAIN, it was so painful I was crying after a few miles and red raw and swollen as it was simply not designed to fit where it was put and had pinched bits and crushed others.
I sent it back to the shop for a refund although they charged a restocking fee (no longer legal although it was then) and said it had never happened before (it wasn't cheap either!)

2 of the New Forest Lads who do serious mileage (PJ and Dr Dave) have had their seats made with memory foam which is supposed to be an absolute revelation, but I bought the square highway hawk pillion pad and it is all the others have already said on here: easy to fit, and definitely far, far better than any seat (including the big sprung lince type) on it's own.
Highly recommended.

For those who want to do a 1 tank wonder type rally (less than 70 miles each way) I'd say just get a comfy sprung saddle, but for anyone who wants to do Euros etc the hawk is a ''must''.

I've done 5 Brids, scarb, Spain, Eire, 2 Lincoln, Cleethorpes & Belgium, none of them under 230 miles each way and it still looks like new.

I've used it in two seats. It improves the comfort of a lambretta quite considerably. It makes a coop seat worse than standard.

Yep! Set off for Morecambe in the '80s, mates scooter broke down just before the Dartford Tunnel. Went the rest of the way two up on a Lammie with a single seat. Funny how that seems like a completely reasonable thing to do when you're 19!

Apart from being more comfy, it isolates your arse from the vibration which makes a big difference.
