I downloaded the software last night. You can save a few curves on your laptop and easily swap between them if you carry your lap top with you while setting it up.
Close enough isnt ideal Martin, especially if the engine you run is very different to the normal.
It looks to me like this is the best one on the market just because any curve can be programmed in.

looks great and at a great price, makes a change in the scooterworld, first thing I have seen and thoguht, oooh I would love one of them, but its no use to me LOL

I know nothing about computers etc but what would be involved in running the software on a smart phone, is that possible, certainly easier than bombing up and down the local dual carriageway with laptop LOL

please forgive my ignorance, as Im a bit green with lambretta wiring :)

obviously one of the wires from the stator is the pickup that triggers the cdi, does this unit run from AC off the stator?

my train of thought is that Im wondering if it could form the basis of a budget mappable igntion for other 2 stroke motors? obviously the trigger has to be sorted as I understand that different motors have different pickup arrangements, but my biggest confusion is how the unit is powered

I say one of sixteen should be close enough, when you compare this to the Agusto box where you have a choice of one.

I agree that there is a perfect curve out there for every tune but attaining that curve might be a chore without the correct opportunities to test your results (eg dyno). With 16 reasonable curves, you would get closer to the best curve than you would with the Agusto, and cheaper than paying for Charlie to programme a box for your individual tune.

Yes, this box is looking like the best one on the market and with patience it could give you the best curve and the chance to change it if you altered the engine's tune, or swap motors.

From what I have seen on the video clip, the new combined advance/retard box and CDI unit is a simple plug and play using the original red, green and white wires which are common to both Lambretta and Vespa electronic ignition stators. The red is the trigger, green is the power from the low tension coil and the white is an earth.

Do not confuse the AC lighting with the cables related to the ignition. These can be considered two completely independent electrical circuits.

This is not an uncommon combinations of wiring on other ignition systems, because I've been though boxes of CDI units in bike breakers and found the same combination of red, white, green connections on unfamiliar looking CDI units.

Thanks. I will try messing with a normal cheap cdi and see if i can provoke a triggering :)
Would be very useful if it could be adapted. Mappable ignition for my 125 bike engine is about 400 quid.
I reckon that this cdi could be the next big thing. Many people probably never mess with it but its cool to know that you can lol

Saw this a few weeks ago and promptly downloaded the software to see what the custom curve options was like before I purchased. Software installed fine but couldn't get the interface to load. Anyone else had luck loading it up on OSX Mavericks?

Could be usefull to choose one of thoses curves ( 3or 7 ;) ) as a good first step:

Ive just fitted mine with a very conservative curve for the Euro, gunned the timing and all I can say so far is that its doing exactly what I told it to do :)
I did a 20 mile ride and it feels like It could now do with a little richen up on the needle/atomiser.
impressed so far :)

How did you managed to fit it on your frame Eden?
You could raise you needle to see if it gives you more guts at mid throttle....

fastfrog, you really don't want to now how I fit my CDI's to my frames, honestly.

A few here will know what I mean :)
