Re: Flywheel refitting - help!

Difficult to see what could've gone wrong with the taper in the 30 minutes or so between taking off the flywheel and refitting it with the new stator in place. The washer isn't stuck, and the flywheel goes on and off easily enough (using the extractor to remove it).
I tried fitting the nut onto the taper without the flywheel in place, and it does seem that it only goes so far before getting stuck. Of course, I can't turn it too hard as it just turns the crank at the same time, but it's got me wondering if there's a problem with the thread. I can't see anything wrong with it, and it's always gone on and off OK in the past.
Monty - it's definitely not hitting the stator, and it turns fine. The washer is there, I haven't checked the nut inside the recess, but since I only changed the stator, it'll be the same as however it was before.
